These burgers are the 15th recipe I've made from this book. I can't say these burgers were amazing, because they were not. However, I can say that not one out of all five of us didn't finish their burger - loaded with mushrooms and zucchini. None of us like zucchnini and only one person likes mushrooms. I think that counts as a success, because while no one raved over them, no one complained about them either and we all got a shot of immune system boosting mushrooms, selenium and B2!
First I chopped the mushrooms really small. I'm not that into them myself, so if I don't see them it's even better.
Same deal with the zucchini, though I don't mind seeing it as much I know the kids would.
Mix the meat, mushrooms, zucchini, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper till it's all mixed together.
Get old school and use your hands! When I was a kid, helping Dad make burgers was so messy and fun because he'd insist I use my hands!
I get the pan nice and hot, add the olive oil and then cook the burger on that for 4-5 minutes. Flip it over for another 5 and then pop them in the oven.
The few minutes in the pan helps the burger stay together in the oven! No one complained about weird bits of green in the burgers!
