I mean, it didn&#8217;t really come without warning, even though it totally feels like there was no warm up or anything and while it is amazing, wonderful news, it&#8217;s also kind of intense.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, we officially have a teenager now. As in, we are the parents of a teenager.<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"3\" cellspacing=\"3\" width=\"100%\">\n<tr>\n<td class=\"content\">\n<div align=\"center\">This sweet little bundle&#8230;<br \/><img src=\"\/images\/v2\/domestic\/coca-cola-cake\/first-1.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<td class=\"content\">\n<div align=\"center\">Is now this wonderful, official teenager&#8230;<br \/><img src=\"\/images\/v2\/domestic\/coca-cola-cake\/first-13.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>There&#8217;s a lot that goes along with this happening, but for now I choose to just think about how gone the days are of making birthday cakes for him that fit the theme of whatever he&#8217;s into. You know, because what he&#8217;s into is Call of Duty and it&#8217;s not like I&#8217;m going to make an MP5K cake, right? Instead, he now joins the ranks of those of us who are looking for flavor. <\/p>\n<p>Dark cola is pretty much blacklisted in our house. I turn a blind eye at birthdays though, so when I saw the recipe for this I had to make it for him.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"\/images\/v2\/domestic\/coca-cola-cake\/coca-cola-cake-title.jpg\" alt=\"Coca Cola Cake\" title=\"Coca Cola Cake\"><\/p>\n<p><b>Coca Cola Cake<\/b> via <a href=\"http:\/\/mayflaum.com\/2011\/06\/08\/the-chocolate-cola-cake\/\" target=\"_blank\">May Flaum<\/a><\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"3\" cellspacing=\"3\" width=\"100%\">\n<tr>\n<td class=\"content\"><b>Cake:<\/b><br \/>\n2cups flour<br \/>\n2cups sugar<br \/>\n1\/2tsp salt<br \/>\n1tsp baking soda<br \/>\n1\/2tsp cinnamon<br \/>\n1 cup butter<br \/>\n1\/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder<br \/>\n1 cup coca-cola (from bottle is my preference!)<br \/>\n1\/2 cup buttermilk<br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n1tsp vanilla extract<\/td>\n<td class=\"content\"><b>Glaze:<\/b><br \/>\n1\/2cup butter<br \/>\n1\/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder<br \/>\n1\/2 cup coca cola<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>Preheat to 350, spray a 9 x 13&#8243; pan with cooking spray and set aside. Whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. In a medium pot, mix up the butter, cocoa, coca cola, and buttermilk. Let that boil.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<img src=\"\/images\/v2\/domestic\/coca-cola-cake\/coca-cola-cake-01.jpg\" alt=\"Coca Cola Cake\" title=\"Coca Cola Cake\">\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Add the boiling mixture to the dry ingredients and whisk, whisk, whisk!
