I wont drone on about these brownies too much, just know they are beloved by children and go well with a big glass of milk!
They’re pretty simple too. Make the brownies, then while they’re cooling, make the Nutella fudge. Spread the fudge over the brownies and pop the whole situation in the fridge for it to set. Totally worth the time in the last step!
Before you do anything, preheat your oven to 350F, and spray a 9″ x 9″ baking pan.
For the brownies, you’ll need:
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup flour
6 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Start by whisking the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt together in a smallish bowl. Then, in the bowl of your mixer, combine the melted butter, sugar, vanilla and egg. Then tip the dry into the wet as you let the mixer go, and tah-dah, brownies!
Once the brownies come out of the oven, make the fudge topping! For that you’ll need:
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup Nutella (you can use some other chocolate hazelnut spread, but Nutella is the best)
Making the fudge is easy but does need babysitting. First, pour the sweetened condensed milk into a small pan and turn it on low. Then mix in the Nutella and butter. Mix on low until it is totally melted together. Keeping it on low, fold in the chocolate chips and mix until melted.
Spread the fudge over the brownies and refrigerate for at least an hour.
I cut ours into 20 pieces but you can cut them into huge pieces or tiny bites!
